Preamble:
This once proud institution is now floundering in simply insane amounts of debt. Their products unable to compete in the marketplace, their customers massively dissatisfied by their shoddy workmanship, with complaints up and down the aisle about their astonishing compensation package. Earning more than $70 per hour, these guys have to cut their salaries before they deserve a single penny in taxpayer funding.
Yes, I'm talking about the Congress.
How about pegging their salary to the 10th percentile wage earned by Detroit's auto makers. Heck if these guys think they earn to much, let them work for the same wages. And enforce the same hour requirements on these deadbeats- I hear there was a Senator from out west who didn't show up for work for several months!
Their approval ratings are minimal at best, but for some strange reasons one party has significantly higher ratings, even though the talking heads like to lump the two together as if they were connected at the waist. Some even compare their approval rating to the Executive branch's two leaders, which is somewhat like comparing apples to compost.
So if you want a thin dime from us, its about time you put profit in front of your need for higher salaries. And a 40 hour work week, that's 40 hours of actual work, not partying or attempting to raise funds for your favorite charity (which in almost all cases is their own campaign.) Before asking hard-working Americans for their money, you'd best be prepared to be very willing in these hard times to part with some of your own. And if the job is too tough for you, there's always someone else willing to take it for less.
(Note: Have to make a hospital trip in about an hour, so I won't be able to maintain this diary as best as possible. Sorry in advance.)
